The Dallas Morning News: $32.5 million in gifts to help Dallas’ Children’s Research Institute fight diseases

Much of the lab space at the Children’s Medical Center Research Institute at UT Southwestern sits empty — ready for medical discoveries to come.

The potential seems even greater after the announcement of $32.5 million in donations.

The gifts will help make the institute a leader in pediatric research, Children’s Health System of Texas officials say.

“One of the challenges [of research] is to have sustained resources that make it possible for scientists to take risks to solve difficult problems,” said Dr. Sean Morrison, the institute’s director. “The philanthropic support of the Dallas community is what makes it possible for us to do that.”
